Xinhua News Agency, United Nations, September 8 (Reporter Wang Jiangang) Dai Bing, China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said on the 8th that China hopes that the new United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (High Commissioner) Volker Turck will lead the OHCHR to abide by the The principles of objectivity, impartiality, non-selectivity and non-politicization are committed to promoting equal dialogue among member states, bridging differences, and resolutely opposing double standards and the politicization of human rights issues.

On the same day, the Chinese representative participated in the UN General Assembly's unanimous approval of UN Secretary-General Guterres' appointment of Turck as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

After approving the appointment, Dai Bing expressed the hope that when Turck takes office, he will lead OHCHR to perform its duties strictly in accordance with UNGA Resolution 48/141 and Human Rights Council resolutions, and commit to promoting human rights dialogue and cooperation.

Dai Bing said that under the instigation of a few countries, the current human rights field has a serious tendency of politicization, and confrontation and division have intensified.

A few countries wantonly interfere in other countries' internal affairs under the guise of human rights, and most member states are firmly opposed to this.

Dai Bing said that human rights are universal, historical, specific and realistic.

For developing countries, especially the least developed countries, the rights to subsistence and development are the primary human rights.

It is hoped that OHCHR will promote various human rights in a balanced manner, pay attention to the reasonable demands of developing countries, further increase its attention and investment in economic, social and cultural rights and the right to development, and help developing countries strengthen human rights capacity building on the basis of the consent of the countries concerned .

Dai Bing emphasized that OHCHR should adhere to diversity and recruit talents from all walks of life.

At present, the composition of the OHCHR is greatly unbalanced, and developing countries are seriously underrepresented. China and many developing countries are deeply concerned about this.

China calls for fundamental reform of the OHCHR to ensure inclusiveness and geographical balance.

Turck, 57, from Austria, has been the Under-Secretary-General for Policy Affairs in the Office of the UN Secretary-General since January 25 this year.
