On July 8 this year, Shinzo Abe was shot while giving a speech on the streets of Nara City, Nara Prefecture. After several hours of rescue, he was pronounced dead at the age of 67.

According to Kyodo News, Abe's "state funeral" will be held on September 27.

The funeral has been called into question because of its budget of about 1.66 billion yen (more than 80 million yuan).

Among them, the reception fee of foreign dignitaries is about 600 million yen.

U.S. Vice Presidential Press Secretary Allen said in a statement on the 7th that in addition to the trip to pay tribute to Abe, Harris will also meet with government officials and representatives of civil society in Tokyo and Seoul, South Korea respectively, and attend a series of activities.

The U.S. side said that Harris will discuss issues such as economy and regional security in addition to strengthening the Japan-South Korea alliance.

This is Harris' second trip to Asia, having visited Singapore and Vietnam in August last year.

At the same time, this is also the first visit by a US leader to Japan and South Korea after US President Biden's first trip to Asia in May this year.
