The UAE ranked first in the Arab world in the Human Development Report 2022, issued by the United Nations Development Program, ahead of the global ranking by five places over the classification of the last report, to come 26th globally among the 191 countries included in the report, and ahead of countries such as Spain and France. , Italy, Portugal, and the UAE to be the only Arab country among the top 30 countries in the world.

The Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Emirates Competitiveness Council, Mohammed Al Gergawi, said, "The UAE government is working under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Al Gergawi stressed that "the UAE has proven day after day its Arab leadership and global supremacy in the field of human development, thanks to the successful policies pursued by the state to achieve the highest rates of development and growth in the fields of education, health, economy, and quality of life, and to achieve sustainable development in all fields."

For her part, Director of the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, Hanan Ahli, said, "The UAE has been in the first place in the Arab world for several years, and its progress globally by five positions at once, indicates the extent of the efforts made by our wise government to achieve the best levels of prosperity for society The UAE, and the emphasis on supporting national skills and competencies to take their natural place in leading the process of renaissance and development, to ensure a promising and sustainable future for future generations.”

Ahli added: "The country has achieved this remarkable progress in the Human Development Index 2022 thanks to the combined efforts of the executive team for the Human Development Index report, which consists of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy, in addition to the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, and the efforts of local statistical centers in The state".

The Human Development Report is issued by the United Nations annually, and since 1990, it is a composite indicator that expresses the level of well-being of peoples through three dimensions (health, knowledge, and standard of living), which are represented in four indicators: life expectancy at birth, Expected years of schooling, average years of schooling, and per capita GDP.

According to the report, which came this year, entitled "The Industry of the Future, in a Transforming World," the country's score reached 0.911 degrees, ahead of last year by 0.021 degrees, while Switzerland, which ranked first in the world, scored 0.962 degrees.

The country's balance in the life expectancy index at birth was 78.7 years, which falls under the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (good health and well-being), which was adopted by the Member States of the United Nations for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As for the country's balance in the expected school years index. It reached 15.7 years, while the average years of schooling was 12.7 years, reflecting the fourth goal of quality education, while the report estimated the per capita GDP at 62,574 dollars.
