Robert Telles is a public administrator for Clark County, of which Las Vegas is the county town.

His office is responsible for securing the property of deceased persons until their family or executor is located.

For several months, his coaching methods have been singled out by the

Las Vegas Review-Journal.

A series of articles which notably mentions complaints from employees for harassment and favouritism.

The author of these articles, Jeff German, a respected investigative journalist, has been known for 40 years for revealing the facts of the corruption of politicians, casino managers and even mafia figures.

This time, his revelations contributed to the defeat of Robert Telles in the June primary elections.

The latter then publicly attacked the journalist in a series of messages on Twitter.

Last Saturday, the reporter was found dead in front of his home, his body larded with stab wounds, and it was the photo of a car not far from the crime scene that directed the investigators to Robert Telles.

His home was searched before his detention.

The editor of the daily said he was relieved.

Also scandalized that a journalist could have been killed simply for having investigated an elected official.
