Surprisingly, Queen Elizabeth II opened the Platinum Jubilee concert by appearing on video with the Paddington Bear, the beloved character of English children's literature created by Michael Bond.

The clip was made months ago by the BBC and was aired by surprise tonight, just as part of her celebrations for her 70th anniversary.

In the sequence, Paddington offers her signature jam sandwich, but the Queen refuses, saying she has one ready in her black purse, just in case.

Soon after, a butler warns the monarch that everything is ready outside for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, while the crowds outside explode in celebration.

"Happy Jubilee, lady. And thank you. For everything," says the Paddington Bear.

Her Majesty replies with a smile: "You are very kind".

Then the two use a silver spoon on their tea plates to beat the beat of the Queen song 'We Will Rock You' which opened the Jubilee concert in front of Buckingham Palace.

And then the concert in honor of the queen really begins.

The event was attended by 22,000 people while other millions of people remained in front of the TV for the live broadcast by the BBC.

Among others, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, Andrea Bocelli, Hans Zimmer, George Ezra and Sam Ryder have performed.
