For several years there have been protests against the demolition of old industrial buildings in the Forsåkers area in Kvarnbyn in Mölndal.

There are many of the buildings from the 19th century.

About 30 buildings have already been demolished and of the ten that were supposed to remain, a few more are now to be demolished.

- It's a scandal!

If you have promised to preserve buildings, you should stand for it, says Lars Gahrn, the association Bevara Kvarnbyn.

Two billion kroner

A couple of the buildings that are demolished will be rebuilt in the same place.

The cost of the project will be around two billion kroner according to Hans Broberg (L), chairman of Mölndala Fastighets AB.

- If you had infinite safes, we would save more.

But saving buildings that you don't know what they will be used for is a waste of money by God's grace.

According to Lars Gahrn, it is important to keep the buildings that remain because the demolition of the others has caused important parts of Mölndal's industrial history to be erased.

- A lot has already been demolished and now you have to hit the brakes because otherwise it will be a complete disaster here.

Criticism of the number of places in the school

But there is great agreement among the politicians on the board.

That's what opposition politicians Hans Wessberg (SD) and vice chairman of the board Sven-Ove Johansson (S) say.

- We have of course had discussions and made some changes, but so far we agree on all the steps we have taken, says Sven-Ove Johansson (S).

In mid-December, the current plan for the area will be taken up in the council for decision.
