The European Commission proposes a levy system on the extra-profits of energy companies to meet the high energy costs that weigh on consumers and businesses.

This was announced by President Ursula von der Leyen in a press point.

The roads indicated are "a ceiling on the revenues of companies that produce low-cost electricity" and "a solidarity contribution for fossil fuel companies".

"We are facing an extraordinary situation, because Russia is an unreliable supplier and is manipulating our energy markets. Our unity and solidarity will ensure that we prevail."

This was stated by the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in a press point at Palazzo Berlaymont.

"We have increased our preparedness and weakened Russia's hold on our energy supply by reducing demand, which has allowed our joint deposits to reach 82%. Through diversification we have increased deliveries of LNG or gas pipelines from states. United States, Norway, Algeria, Azerbaijan, etc. For example, Norway is supplying more gas to the EU than Russia.
