"It is an attack that reveals a totalitarian mentality.

We do not take orders from anyone

", the reply of the Minister of Ecological Transition, Roberto

Cingolani

, commenting on the words of the spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

The minister - in an interview with Corriere della Sera - rejects the Moscow attack, reassuring the extent of the "containment" of energy consumption that will be launched shortly by the government: "

Our plan is not draconian and does not require sacrifices expensive

".

The answer to Moscow: "Total independence from Russian gas in 2024"

"They are giving great suffering to Russian citizens - continues the Minister of the MITE - while

we will not give great suffering to ours

", he assures, "In a few months", reports the Minister, "we have halved our dependence on Russian gas: thanks to our program we will further halve it".

Total independence from Putin's gas which according to Cingolani's calculations will take place

"at the end of 2024"

.

regasifier

The road map for independence

"Fundamental" are the regasifiers.

But above all to make Italians understand the need to enter a new order of ideas, where energy "rationing" (a word that the minister never uses, also because it corresponds to a subsequent emergency phase, not yet under discussion) must probably be achieved without the need to resort to sanctions from citizens: "

Nobody thinks that Italy is unable to accept minimum sacrifices for a just cause

", he adds," The Italians are a very strong people. "" No sanctions "for those who do not respect the rules - then declared the minister, who announced an" information campaign to explain what incredible results some small actions give ". such as "incredible results give some small actions, such as taking shorter showers, unplugging the instruments on standby or turning down the heat when the water boils".

Minister Roberto Cingolani in the Chamber

The current savings plan

"Only with the civil and residential measures we reach around eight,

nine billion cubic meters of gas saved

. Numbers that satisfy both the 15% share of voluntary savings of the plan proposed by the EU, and the mandatory share that is about 4 billion cubic meters ".

What could happen this winter

Putin will not "suddenly" close the gas taps, but if he did - continues Cingolani - "We

could think of lowering the temperature of the radiators by two degrees and shortening the heating by a month, instead two weeks

", reflects Cingolani.

For now, the industry has not been touched, "but if it is needed we will involve companies".

"Dependence on Russian gas halved"

"In a few months - so Cingolani - with an extensive operation of differentiation of sources, we have halved our dependence on Russian gas. And thanks to our program we will further halve it".

And Putin "

will not turn off the taps suddenly

", Cingolani details how the current tension on the flows of gas coming from Russia affects the country's energy economy: "For some time the Nord Stream has been in fits and starts, causing us a small reduction of flows, around 10, perhaps 15 million cubic meters per day out of a total flow ranging from 150 to 170 million cubic meters per day ".

On the achievement of full independence from the country that attacked Ukraine, the minister explained how much the government places its trust in the activation of the

two regasifiers envisaged in the executive plan

: "Thanks to Eni for the differentiation and to Snam for storage, we we have procured about 25 billion cubic meters of gas, with a growth ramp that will initially see 12 billion cubic meters flow into the pipelines and then another 13 billion that are of liquid LNG gas - explains the minister - of these, a part it will be transformed by sending our regasifiers to 100% of operations and the other 10 billion will be transformed by the two floating regasifiers.

Piombino will be ready at the beginning of 2023 and Ravenna at the beginning of 2024 ".

The future of the minister: "I'll go back to my job"

Asked if he will remain in the next government that will take office at the end of the electoral campaign: "There is a time for technicians and a time for politicians.

As a technician I did what I could and will go back to my job ".
