Back on track a few days after the wedding, Gianmarco Tamberi, the blue Olympic high jump champion, won the Diamond League final in Zurich with his best seasonal measure: 2.34m, ahead of the American Ju Vaughn Harrison, who overtook the same measure but making one more mistake.

"Gimbo" therefore wins the "diamond" in the high jump (prize reserved for the winners of each specialty) for the second consecutive year.

This time he succeeded in the second jump, after having missed the first attempt at both 2.27 and 2.32 (measure then passed).

Tamberi, 30, bearer of the Fiamme Oro, Olympic champion last year in Tokyo and a few weeks ago European gold in Munich.

In history no Italian had ever managed to win the "diamond" of the international circuit which, until 2009, was called the "Golden League".

Gianmarco, dragged by the Swiss public, gave life to an exciting race at the end of which he preceded Ju Vaughn Harrison and the Canadian Django Lovett with 2.27.
