In addition, Director of the European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Belyaev, announced yesterday that Russia's response to threats to join Sweden and Finland in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO" will depend on the deployment of foreign bases and offensive weapons there.

"The process of ratification of applications submitted by Stockholm and Helsinki for membership in (NATO) by NATO member states has not yet been completed," Belyaev told the Russian "Sputnik" news agency.

Accordingly, the exact form of their integration into the Alliance is unclear, primarily in terms of the deployment of foreign military bases, military infrastructure and offensive weapons systems on Finnish and Swedish territories,” adding: “The degree of threats to Russia will depend on the next wave of expansion ( NATO), and actual response actions on our part, on this factor.”

Regarding Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry said that some shells fell on the territory of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, and one of them exploded near the electricity unit No. 2, noting that the radiation levels at the plant, which is the largest nuclear facility in Europe, are still normal.

The governor of the city of Kharkiv, Oleh Senhopov, said that three people were killed as a result of rocket fire in the area, including an elderly woman, who died last night.

Kharkiv, Ukraine's second largest city, is located near the Russian border and has been under constant bombardment since the Russian war.

Ukrainian statistics showed that the Russian army lost more than 50,000 soldiers during the war in Ukraine, which began more than six months ago.

The Ukrainian General Staff said in a statement that the Ukrainian army destroyed 2,077 tanks, 4,484 armored vehicles, 236 aircraft and 207 helicopters, but there is no independent confirmation of this data.

Russia has reaped €158 billion in revenue from fuel exports in the six months since the outbreak of war in Ukraine, benefiting from higher prices, according to a report by an independent think tank published yesterday, which called for more effective sanctions.

The report of the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), based in Finland, stated that "the rise in fossil fuel prices means that Russia's current revenues are much higher than those of previous years."

Gas prices rose to historic levels in Europe, and oil prices rose at the beginning of the war, before falling recently.

The report's authors said that "exports of fossil fuels contributed about 43 billion euros to the Russian federal budget."

For its part, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the United States was the one who provoked the gas supply crisis in Europe, by pushing European leaders towards what it described as a "suicidal step" by stopping economic and energy cooperation with Moscow.
