Syrian state media said this evening, Tuesday, that an Israeli attack targeted Aleppo airport, and indicated that the air defenses confronted Israeli missiles and shot down a number of them.

This is the second attack of its kind in a week.

There were no immediate reports of human or material losses.

This is the second attack of its kind in a week, as official Syrian media said that Israel targeted Aleppo airport with missiles on August 31, causing material damage, as well as targeting other sites in Damascus and its countryside.

A similar Israeli bombing had previously rendered Damascus International Airport out of service, before the relevant authorities worked on repairing it.

For years, the positions of the Syrian regime forces and Iranian-backed militias in Syria have been subjected to repeated Israeli bombardments, and Israel says it wants to prevent what it calls an Iranian military presence there.
