- Skåne has ended up a bit in the dark when it rained.

This is how Emma Härenstam sums up the Swedish rainfall during the summer.

- Some low pressure has moved in with rain, but they have followed a slightly more northerly path and the rain has come mostly in central Sweden.

Driest August in a long time

In Skåne, according to SMHI, it has been the driest August since 1997 or 2002. Locally, there are deviations, for example in Båstad, which was hit by heavy rain and floods, but it has rained less than usual throughout this year.

- It can be due to various things, says Emma Härenstam.

- Sometimes a strong high pressure lies and blocks so that the low pressure is pushed further north.

That was the case in March, for example.

Soon the rain will come

How does it look going forward?

Well, until and including Thursday it looks like high pressure, but then the rain will come.

- Then a low pressure is approaching from the southwest and it will bring rain during Friday and Saturday and then maybe some showers during Sunday as well, says Emma Härenstam.

- I have looked at several weather models and this forecast seems certain.
