• Courts The judge summons Mónica Oltra to testify as accused on September 19 for the case of the abuse of her ex-husband

Compromís has approved this Tuesday a change in its primary regulations that, in practice, will allow Mónica OItra to be picked up for the 2023 electoral lists. In other words, the door is opened to recover the greatest asset of the Valencian coalition even without a process of primaries and forcing deadlines until the last moment.

This is what emerges from the new wording of the regulation that has been ratified by the three legs of Compromís:

Més Compromís

(the old Bloc and main force of the coalition),

Initiative

(Oltra's party and its successor in the Government of Ximo Puig , Aitana Mas) and

Els Verds

.

Specifically, what has been decided is that "the National Executive Compromís Commission may, at any time prior to the legalization of the electoral lists, include modifications in the electoral list with personalities from Compromís."

Oltra, who on September 19 will have to testify for the first time as being investigated before the judge, was forced to resign last June after being charged for her alleged participation in the management of the sexual abuse complaint made by her Ministry of a minor under guardianship against her ex-husband.

In the legal case there are 13 other officials and technicians investigated, but the investigating judge targeted Oltra for being the alleged person in charge of commissioning a "paralegal" file that ended up discrediting the victim of the abuses.

Although in Compromís the deputy

Joan Baldoví

is seen as the main substitute for Oltra as headliner in the next regional elections, the truth is that this option has never been publicly confirmed.

Everyone at Compromís keeps the door open for Oltra's return if the judge finally files the case against her.

The doubt, however, is in the judicial times that, depending on how long the investigation takes, could lead to an electoral campaign with Oltra charged.

If, on the other hand, Oltra's ordeal in court ended earlier, the goal of the Valencian coalition would be none other than to rehabilitate her figure.

And, incidentally, counteract the erosion of the formation that all the polls predict for the regional and municipal elections of 2023.

For this reason, the new primary regulations allow forcing a hypothetical entry of Oltra on the lists

in extremis

.

The formula of "Compromís personalities" fits like a glove to the figure of the former vice president of the Generalitat, the main visible face of a formation that in reality no longer leads.

In this sense, the Compromís executive will have the power to decide, apart from the primary process, the inclusion of Oltra until the moment the lists close.
