British Prime Minister accepts invitation to visit Ukraine in first call with a foreign leader

Britain's new Prime Minister Liz Truss spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on her first call with a foreign leader and accepted an invitation to visit Ukraine, stressing her support for the country in its war with Russia.

Britain is one of Ukraine's biggest international supporters, sending nearly 7,000 anti-tank weapons, hundreds of missiles and armored fighting vehicles, and training Ukrainian soldiers.

"The Prime Minister spoke to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky this evening to reaffirm the UK's unwavering support for Ukraine's freedom and democracy," a statement sent by the Trust's office said.

"The prime minister said she looks forward to working with the (Ukrainian) president in the coming weeks and months, and is pleased to accept an invitation to visit President Zelensky in Ukraine soon," the statement added.
