Yesterday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that two employees of the Russian embassy in Kabul were killed when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device near the entrance to the embassy, ​​in an attack that also killed four Afghan civilians.

Afghan police said six people were killed in the incident, while the attacker was shot dead by guards as he approached the gate.

"The guards of the Russian embassy recognized the suicide bomber before he reached the target, and they shot him," the police chief in the area where the attack took place, Maulvi Saber, told Reuters.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that an unknown person detonated an explosive device near the entrance to the consular section of the embassy, ​​at about 10:50 am Kabul time.

"As a result of the attack, two employees of the diplomatic mission were killed, and there are also victims of Afghan nationals," she added.
