After receiving the report, the Office of the State Council Earthquake Relief Headquarters and the Emergency Management Department immediately launched the national earthquake emergency response level III, and the National Disaster Reduction Committee and the Emergency Management Department launched the national level IV disaster relief emergency response.

  After the earthquake, Wang Xiangxi, deputy commander of the State Council Earthquake Relief Command and head of the Emergency Management Department, rushed to the command center to dispatch personnel for search and rescue, disaster verification, earthquake monitoring and secondary disaster prevention. A working group led by Party committee member and director of China Earthquake Administration Min Yiren went to the site to guide the earthquake relief work, and dispatched the national comprehensive fire rescue force to the earthquake area.

A total of 30 people from the Sichuan Provincial Fire Rescue Corps' Luding County Front Team rushed to the epicenter to check the disaster situation. Seven detachments, including Ganzi, Chengdu, Deyang, Leshan, Ya'an, Meishan, and Ziyang, a total of 530 earthquake rescue forces were rushing to the epicenter.
