A year ago, the fall of Alpha Condé was celebrated with scenes of jubilation at the Bambeto roundabout, a traditional focus of protest in Conakry.
Twelve months later, the hopes aroused by the coup have been largely dashed.

In a small house in the neighborhood, civil society leaders receive a special guest: Ismaël Baldé, legal adviser to the president of the CNT.

Please, let's not have any violence.
This message should be conveyed, so that those who used to throw stones can find themselves within organizations
[of civil society]
like that to say: “help us”.
And I know that the authorities of the transition will put themselves there to be able to satisfy the youth of the commune.

We are not totally desperate as there is still a way out.
There is the announced dialogue.
It is at the end of this dialogue that we will decide on the next steps.

He is not one of the most pessimistic in Bambeto.
A little further, in a cafe, a young demonstrator drops his punches.

The CNRD is no longer our friend.
When he kidnapped Professor Alpha Condé, we were happy.
A year later, it's a total mess.
The year is done for now.
We are waiting for him to make the elections and leave.

For three months, Bambeto has again been living to the rhythm of demonstrations and their repression.
