In Hauts-de-Seine and Yvelines, investigators are faced with a new method of burglary.

Since last July, criminals have managed to break into private apartments using a corrosive product that damages the lock, reports

.

The only clue on the spot: yellow or orange traces, left by this liquid.

At least fifty victims have been counted and this may only be the beginning.

Only money and jewelry

One of the latest burglaries took place on August 21, in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine).

Returning from vacation, the victim discovered that his apartment had been visited.

The thieves would have left with an estimated loot of 5,000 euros.

According to a police officer who confided in the Ile-de-France daily, these burglars only target "money and jewelry" and "show a certain mastery".

No lead is currently favored by the investigators.

The investigations are continuing.
