The IAEA's planned visit to Europe's largest nuclear power plant Zaporizhzhya was delayed by three hours due to shelling in the area during the night of Thursday, Reuters reports.

A group of inspectors has traveled to Ukraine to examine parts of the nuclear power plant and do what they can to prevent an accident.

Despite the shelling, they have now continued their journey towards Zaporizhzhya to complete the mission.

- We weigh advantages against disadvantages, and when we have come this far, we do not stop, says IAEA director Rafael Grossi.

Video shows explosion

A video seen by Reuters shows a large explosion in the ground.

Using stock images of the buildings seen in the video, they were able to verify the location.

It is located approximately 5.5 kilometers from the nuclear power plant.

Ukraine and Russia once again accuse each other of the shelling and say that the other side wants to sabotage the IAEA's mission.

- Wish us luck, says Rafael Grossi before he jumps into the car to drive the last distance to the nuclear power plant.

Shutdown reactor

One of two functioning reactors at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant has been shut down due to Russian shelling, operator Energoatom announced on Thursday, Reuters reports.
