German airline Lufthansa has announced that it will cancel 800 flights to and from Frankfurt and Munich on Monday due to pilot strikes demanding higher wages.

Lufthansa announced on the 1st that it will cancel almost all flights to and from its domestic hubs Frankfurt and Munich on the 2nd due to a strike by the pilots' union.

About 800 flights will be canceled, and about 130,000 passengers are expected to be affected.



On Japan routes, we operate flights connecting Haneda, Frankfurt and Munich, respectively, but some flights are expected to be canceled.



Lufthansa said it will immediately contact passengers on canceled flights and will make arrangements to change their bookings if an alternative flight is available.



According to German media, the labor union was demanding a 5.5% wage increase this year and a wage increase that matches the inflation rate from next year on the wages of about 5,000 pilots.



Lufthansa Airlines canceled about 1,000 flights due to the strike of ground staff seeking wage increases in late July, affecting more than 130,000 passengers.
