Two physiotherapy students aged 20 and 21 saved the life of a drowning man in Lampaul-Plouarzel (Finistère) on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, a 69-year-old vacationer, had his head in the water and was not moving when the two young people spotted him while they were walking near the dunes.

One of the students pulled the man out of the water with the help of a witness while the other called the emergency services by telephone.

Placed in a lateral safety position, the swimmer, who was also a very good swimmer, was unconscious but was breathing.

He regained consciousness on his own.

The rescuers nevertheless took him in charge and took him to the hospital in Brest (Finistère).

To explain the situation in which they found the victim, the two young people mentioned the possibility of discomfort or a fall, followed by fainting in the water.
