It was the medical director of

the Ayder hospital

who gave the alert last night by denouncing a drone attack on Mekele shortly before midnight.

“

Victims arrive at the hospital

”, could we read on his Twitter account.

According to the TPLF spokesperson, at least three bombs were dropped and Mekele hospital was among the targets, he accused.

Other local sources assure that the surroundings of this hospital were affected, but the exact nature of the targets and the damage remains difficult to establish this morning.

The TPLF ensures in any case that there are no military targets in the vicinity, since after the bombardment of

a kindergarten in Mekele

last week, the Ethiopian army had assured that it was only targeting targets military.

Another sign of escalation, the government accuses the Tigrayans of having relaunched an offensive towards the border with Sudan where clashes are said to be underway.

While since the beginning of the week, the TPLF has already progressed outside the borders of Tigray, in Amhara towards the key city of Weldiya, as well as in the Afar region.
