Beef is the meat that has the greatest impact on the climate when you look at the emissions of greenhouse gases it causes.

There is also a big difference depending on the type of beef involved.

Meat from dairy cows has the least impact on the climate.

Then the cow has already been used for another product and the climate impact for the meat itself is counted as lower.

Natural pasture has a significantly higher climate impact.

Only imported meat from Brazil, where there is a high risk of deforestation, is worse.

May increase consumption

Serina Ahlgren still thinks that consumption of Swedish natural pastured meat can be increased.

- Even if it means a high climate burden, there are big gains for biological diversity.

If everyone stops eating natural pastured meat, then we will have problems.

The natural pastures are home to many of the most endangered plants, insects and birds in Sweden.

Preserving biological diversity is one of Sweden's environmental goals.

At the same time, natural pastures have declined sharply in Sweden.

- Since the 19th century, only five percent have remained, so the ones we have, we have to take care of and then these grazing animals are needed, says Serina Ahlgren at Rise.

But how should one think as a consumer?

And how do the farmers reason?
