Off the coast of Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan's EEZ = exclusive economic zone, the Japan Coast Guard's survey ship has intermittently been requested to stop the survey by the Korean Coast Guard ship since the afternoon of the 29th. The Agency lodged a protest with South Korea through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Japan Coast Guard, after 3:00 pm on the 29th, the Japan Coast Guard's survey ship "Phiyo" was located about 110 km northwest of Mejima in the Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan's exclusive economic zone, and the seafloor topography etc. When I was conducting an investigation, I was requested to stop the investigation by radio from the Korean Coast Guard ship.



The content of the request was, "Surveys in South Korean waters are illegal. Stop the surveys and leave immediately."



In response, the Japan Coast Guard responded, ``We are conducting legitimate research activities in Japan's exclusive economic zone.



The Japan Coast Guard continues to investigate, but as of the 29th, the Korean Coast Guard's request to stop the ship was made seven times every hour to one and a half hours.



According to the Japan Coast Guard, the Korean Coast Guard's request to cancel the ship is the fourth since January last year, and it is protesting to South Korea through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.



The Japan Coast Guard has been surveying the surrounding sea area since the 18th of this month, and will continue the survey until the end of next month as scheduled.
