During the first days of school, students' parents were keen to take their children to schools, especially first-year and kindergarten (KG) students, to prepare them psychologically for the new school year.

The students’ parents benefited from the decision of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources to provide flexibility for employees in the first days of school to help their children start their academic journey with confidence and without obstacles.

The authority’s decision reduced the confusion that some parents faced after their children’s school administrations informed them of the irregularity of school buses during the first week, on the trip to school, and limiting their work to return trips only, as it helped them take their children with their cars.

The first day of school saw heavy traffic in front of the gates of a number of schools.

Abdul Rahman Al Muhairi said that he was keen to deliver his children to school during the first day of school, taking advantage of the flexibility provided by the Federal Authority for Human Resources to its employees, stressing that “the decision allowed the students’ families to accompany their children during the first day, to help them overcome feelings of anxiety and instill reassurance in the their souls.”

Souad Ahmed stated that she brought her children to school, taking advantage of the flexibility decision, explaining that it allowed her to provide psychological support to them.

And she added that she was satisfied with the decision after the school administration informed her, in a text message, not to wait for the bus on the trip to school, during the first week, until the completion of the organizational procedures.

Ola Al-Sayed stated that she took her only child, who recently joined the school, to remove the fear and anxiety from himself, and support him, especially since it was the first time he separated from her.

Adel Mustafa said that he used to drive his two children to school at the beginning of the school year, especially since the buses are not regular.

He added that the decision to "flexible working hours" allowed him to celebrate with them by returning to school, as a happy occasion that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Mohamed Abdel-Fattah confirmed that the flexibility of working hours helped him to overcome the problem of irregular buses during the first days of school due to the lack of knowledge of the addresses of the new students.

For its part, school administrations confirmed to "Emirates Today" that school hours will be fully regular, starting next week.

The Department of Social Services in Sharjah directed five tips to the students’ families to make the first week of school for their children a success, inviting them to take a memory photo with the child on his first day of school, because this will make him feel happy to enter the school, and the second advice is for parents to know the names of their child’s classmates, and to introduce them to him So he feels reassured.

The third advice is to stay with the child for a short period and go out as soon as he is busy with activities with the teacher.

The fourth advice is not to show sadness for leaving their child at school, because it suggests to him that school is a scary and unsafe place.

The fifth advice is to receive the child with hugs and kisses upon his return from school, to compensate for his absence from home.
