According to the agency on Twitter, 15 protesters were killed in the "green zone" of Baghdad.

Earlier, Iraqi authorities announced a nationwide curfew starting at 19:00 on August 29 until further notice.

The restrictions are related to the aggravation of the situation amid the riots that occurred near the Republican Palace inside the protected "green zone" of Baghdad with the participation of supporters of the Shiite politician Muqtada al-Sadr.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on the conflicting parties in Iraq to take immediate steps to de-escalate and prevent any violence.
