A car hit a seven-year-old boy this Saturday noon in Péage-de-Roussillon (Isère).

The victim, originally from Ile-de-France, was on vacation in the department, where part of his family resides.

The child was part of a group where there were also teenagers.

At the level of a bridge, they advanced by walking on both sides of the street, on the sidewalk, says France Bleu Isère.

Called by a friend, the little boy crossed the road when the car arrived.

The driver could not avoid the child.

The Vienna public prosecutor's office said that the motorist still had all the points on his driving license.

He was also not driving under the influence of narcotics or alcohol.

The investigation should determine the speed of the vehicle.

However, the thesis of speeding was not favored at first.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash but were unable to resuscitate the boy.
