Under the epidemic, exhibitors have come up with different strategies to drive local consumption.

Some people believe that Hong Kong should attract more foreign businessmen to participate in the exhibition, so as to strengthen Hong Kong's international competitiveness.

This year, the Hong Kong Book Fair opened on July 20, which lasted for 7 days, recorded 850,000 visitors, and the per capita consumption reached 879 yuan (HKD, the same below), an increase from 817 yuan last year. Many exhibitors Indicates ideal sales.

The two international jewellery fairs that started on July 29 and the first "Just Want to Shop" festival attracted more than 80,000 visitors. This year's jewellery fair is the first time it has been fully opened to the public, attracting local customers. The new guest bought a gold pearl necklace for more than 200,000 yuan.

The organizer also invited local KOL (Key Opinion Leader) anchors to bring multiple live webcasts at the exhibition venue, bringing additional sales to exhibitors.

The food expo held on August 11 attracted 430,000 people to visit and shop, with per capita spending of more than 1,400 yuan.

It is worth mentioning that since the second phase of electronic consumer coupons in Hong Kong has been distributed this year, 90% of the merchants who participated in the exhibition accepted electronic consumer coupons to encourage citizens to shop, and some merchants won favor with "1 yuan for food".

The Hong Kong Computer and Communication Festival held on the 19th of the same month saw more visitors than last year, and the average sales of exhibitors increased by about 5% to 10% year-on-year. The overall sales are estimated to exceed 330 million yuan.

This year's major exhibitions have achieved good results.

The SAR government recently announced to shorten the quarantine period for overseas arrivals to 3 days of hotel isolation and 4 days of home medical surveillance, and to allow them to participate in "business-to-business" conferences and exhibitions in order to facilitate business travel and economic activities.

Public opinion welcomes this and expects further relaxation of measures in the future.

Hong Wen, a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council who is concerned about Hong Kong's trade industry, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency that some foreign businessmen and buyers chose not to come to Hong Kong this year under the epidemic, but some industries in Hong Kong rely on international exhibitions for trade, such as jewelry, leather, Stationery and toys, orders during the exhibition accounted for most of the annual business volume.

She believes that if the epidemic slows down in the future, the measures should be further relaxed to reduce the cost of isolation, and the SAR government should also do more publicity.

Li Keyi, executive vice president of the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association, also believes that the exhibition industry can bring great benefits to the local economy.

In the rest of this year, Hong Kong will still host a number of international conferences and exhibitions, including the International Property Management and Procurement Expo, the Belt and Road Summit Forum, and a collection of international famous watches.

Hong Wen said that Hong Kong is a free port and pursues a free trade policy. It is very convenient for foreign exhibitors to import and export products here. Hong Kong implements common law and integrates with the Chinese mainland market, which are all advantages of Hong Kong.
