A still undetermined number of people have died this Saturday when a truck belonging to a Spanish transport company crashed into a neighborhood barbecue in the town of Nieuw-Beijerland, in the south of the Netherlands, near Rotterdam, according to police sources confirmed to the Dutch Broadcasting Corporation (NOS), for reasons still under investigation.

The driver, who was uninjured, has been arrested and taken to the police station.

The truck, which according to the Police belongs to the Spanish transport company El Mosca, will be seized by the authorities for its technical review.

"The forensic investigation is underway. First, the investigators will inspect the site and then the truck will be lifted and impounded for investigation," the police said on their Twitter account.

At the time of the accident, a neighborhood barbecue was being held at the foot of a dam when the truck left the road.

Police have avoided giving an exact number of victims or giving more details because the truck is still being removed.
