Putin orders monthly subsidies for Ukrainian refugees in his country

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree providing social benefits to refugees who fled to his country to escape the war in Ukraine.

The document, published in Moscow on Saturday, stipulates that the pensioner will receive a monthly allowance of 10,000 rubles (about 166 euros) and the woman will receive a one-time benefit of 20,000 rubles in case of childbirth.

The document added that these benefits are entitled to refugees who had to leave their homeland because of the war.

It is noteworthy that the war has caused the displacement of millions of people, many of them within Ukraine itself, as well as in countries belonging to the European Union and in Russia as well.

Earlier this month, the Russian authorities estimated the number of these refugees at more than 3.2 million.
