Houthi militias continue violations of the armistice in Yemen

The Houthi militias continued their combat escalation and violations of the UN truce in Yemen, and renewed their bombardment of the joint and southern forces positions in the "Battar" sector in the north of Al-Dhalea governorate, with artillery and booby-trapped marches.

In Taiz, militias launched sporadic attacks on Yemeni army positions in the eastern front of the city, and on the Al-Dhabab front in the western region.

In Marib, the Yemeni army and the resistance forces thwarted an attempt to infiltrate Houthi elements towards their positions on the southern front, and managed to capture two Houthi elements, according to field sources.

In Hajjah, military sources confirmed the arrival of large combat reinforcements belonging to the Houthis via the "Khadali" road, including missiles, drones and heavy artillery towards the fronts of Bani Hassan in the Abs district and the fronts of Haradh.

On the western coast of Yemen, the military media of the joint forces announced the arrest of new Houthi spy cells working on espionage, information transfer and weapons smuggling, and they have sabotage plans, assassinations and bombings in the liberated areas south of Hodeidah.

In addition, the Yemeni government criticized the intransigence of the Houthi militias regarding the implementation of the provisions of the UN armistice, especially with regard to opening Taiz roads and paying employees’ salaries from the revenues of Hodeidah ports, while there is talk of a new round of consultations between the Yemeni government and the Houthi militias, under UN auspices, related to the military side and the implementation of Armistice clauses.

The political and media advisor to Yemeni Prime Minister Ali al-Sarari said in a press statement that the Houthis are still intransigent and determined to continue the siege of Taiz and block roads, and there are no signs of a breakthrough in this regard, which threatens the failure of any international and international efforts to move to other paths and consultations.

Al-Sarari stressed that the Yemeni government requires the implementation of the terms of the armistice, especially with regard to the opening of Taiz roads, and the payment of salaries before any attempts to hold consultations to discuss other issues, including extending the armistice for six months or expanding it to become a permanent armistice.

Over the past weeks, US diplomacy has intensified its moves in order to support the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen, to expand the armistice, to communicate understandings about Taiz roads, employee salaries, release prisoners, support the economy, increase humanitarian operations, and address the Safer Reservoir disaster.
