The movement announces this truce after having met over the past 72 hours with ECOWAS officials and some presidents of the conference of heads of state of the West African organization.

Joined by RFI, Sékou Koundono, one of the leaders of the FNDC returns to these interviews.

“

During these discussions, the differences arising from the conduct of the transition in Guinea were addressed.

The FNDC, very attentive to its partners and concerned about the success of this transition, is in favor of dialogue and peace, has acceded to the request of the Conference of Heads of State of ECOWAS, but also of Christians of Guinea to suspend these citizen and peaceful demonstrations, for the rapid return to constitutional order, scheduled for Monday, August 29 and Sunday, September 4, day of prayer for our Christian compatriots.

Sékou Koundono adds that the FNDC did not speak with the ECOWAS mediator, former Beninese president Boni Yayi, but received guarantees.

“

It is the Conference of Heads of State that sends the mediator to Guinea.

We already exchange regularly with the Conference of Heads of State of ECOWAS where we had talks at the highest summit.

These talks are sufficient and we have received guarantees that the mediator will continue to discuss with the various actors and with the military in Guinea in order to find solutions that can enable the various socio-political actors in the country to sit on a dialogue framework so that we can discuss the content and duration of the transition, in accordance with article 77 of the transition charter.
