A new leader who will lead the Democratic Party for two years is elected today (28th).

The Democratic Party held the '5th Regular National Delegates Convention (National Convention)' at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium in Seoul this afternoon to select the party representative and five top members.

The candidate with the most votes is elected by summing and reflecting the votes of the right party members (40%), the delegates' votes (30%), the general public opinion polls (25%), and the general party members polls (5%).

Candidate Jae-myung Lee, the party runner-up, won the previous day's Gyeonggi and Seoul area rights party members' rounds with 80.21% and 75.61% of the votes, respectively.

The cumulative vote rate of the right party members nationwide was 78.22%, widening the gap of 56 percentage points from his competitor candidate Park Yong-jin (21.78%), continuing the popular theory called 'Eo Dae-myung (representative Lee Jae-myung anyway)'.

The point to watch the national convention on this day is the votes of 16,284 delegates from all over the country, with 30% being reflected.

The general view of the political circles is that it is difficult for Lee to win the right party vote as much as possible as the delegates are evaluated as having strong organizational and non-Lee Jae-myung groups.

In the cumulative vote percentage of the right party members who elected five candidates, the two-way system (Cheong-Rae Jeong and Min-Jung Ko), the third-class (Chan-Dae Park, Gyeong-Tae Jang, Young-Kyo Seo), and the two-Yak (Gap-Seok Song, Young-in) system were maintained.

It is noteworthy whether there will be a change in the last-minute rankings in the order of Rep. Chung Cheong-rae Ko Min-jung Park Chan-dae Jang Gyeong-tae Seo Young-gyo.

Voting results and winners will be announced today around 6:15pm.

The new party leader who has seized power will win the right to nominate for the 24th general election in 2024.
