It is noted that such a statement was made following a meeting between Aleksiev and the head of the Energy Directorate of the European Commission, Ditte Juhl-Jorgensen.

“The Deputy Prime Minister clearly stated that the Bulgarian government does not intend to negotiate a new short, medium or long-term contract with Gazprom Export, but only talks about receiving volumes under the current contract,” the report says.

In addition, during the talks, the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister confirmed to the European Commission Bulgaria's consent to participate in international tenders for the purchase of liquefied natural gas.

Also, the statement says, the Bulgarian authorities are interested in participating in the mechanism of joint purchase of energy resources by European countries.

Earlier, Energy Minister of Bulgaria Rosen Hristov said that the republic is ready to resume negotiations on Russian gas supplies and Sofia expects a response from Gazprom in the near future.
