He also noted that he was seriously concerned about ensuring the safety of the nuclear power plant and since March he has been in contact with the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, on safety issues, first at the Chernobyl and then at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

Macron also added that he talked a lot on this issue with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky.

The day before, the President of France, at a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, declared his commitment to sending an expert mission of the agency to the Zaporozhye NPP as soon as possible.
