Imagine a person having such bad luck that they go to the Land of Luck and are still jinxed at every step.

This is in a nutshell the story of Sam Greenfield, the heroine of the new animated movie "Luck", who can be considered the worst luck in the world.

Sam's life consists of a series of unfortunate accidents and small disasters - and sometimes big ones - but despite all that she has lived since she was a child, she is always optimistic and learns from her misfortune, and nothing can stop her;

They are always ready to meet the worst expectations.

series of disappointments

The events of the film start from the day Sam turned 18 years old, and she has to leave the orphanage in which she grew up and start life alone with a new house and work to get money, and with all the turmoil and mixed feelings she feels, her bad luck makes her life difficult, so she feels - and you You watch her - as if you want to go to her and get her out of what she is suffering.

And on her first day in her new home, every bad thing imaginable happens, since she woke up;

On her first day at work, she spoils everything she touches. Despite all that, all she has is her little friend Hazel in the home, who dreams of finding a foster family for her, and Sam tries hard to support her and give her hope that she will find what she dreams of.

While trying to bring good luck to her friend, she meets a lucky cat "Bob" and takes her to the "Land of Luck" that consists of two worlds;

One for good luck, one for bad luck. The adventure of duo Sam and Bob the cat takes several turns, and with her bad luck it becomes increasingly difficult to find what she is looking for, but she is always prepared to deal with the worst eventuality.

The bright side of bad luck

The film delves into the importance of bad luck in life, and despite its inconvenience and frustration, it is as important and we need it as we need good luck, and as Sam said, "I know bad luck is awful, especially when it comes to us all the time, but we still need it."

The positive impact of bad luck on Sam's personality and maturity appears, and because of the unexpected events she experiences daily in her life, she has a great ability to adapt to change, does not give up easily, and does not get frustrated at the first attempt.

Because of her bad luck, Sam does not have high or irrational expectations, and when painful events meet her with openness, she is always ready for anything to happen, and she also develops problem-solving skills to deal with successive bad events, and this is clearly visible from the beginning of the film.

The most important thing that Sam has gained from her bad luck is psychological flexibility. Whenever she stumbles, she gets up and tries again, as if she is riding the choppy waves of life, dealing with difficult situations, accepting them and adapting to them all the time smoothly, quickly and unexpectedly.

Here, the great difference between the two worlds of good and bad luck appears. The beings of the world of good fortune suffer from extreme stress all the time to maintain their ideal world without any bad luck, while in the other world of bad luck the beings live more comfortably, and they are faced with unpleasant events all the time, and what They do automatically is catch up on the situation or laugh at what is happening to them.

And how they dealt with problems in general can be summarized in one of the scenes, when the creatures of the world of bad luck were playing with the ball together, and the ball suddenly hit something suspended, and it broke off and collapsed.

As Ruti, one of the creatures that lives in the world of bad luck, said, "One of the benefits of bad luck is that it teaches you to adapt to changes."

Fun but not special

While the film does not seem completely unique, it has something that distinguishes it from others. Art critic Graeme Gutman said, "The film does not seem to be very similar to other animated films, but it does show what such films show; it highlights some of the values Like family and perseverance, through humor, passion and charming scenes."

As for Sam's character, film critic Robbie Cullen told The Telegraph that "the construction of the main character was not as distinctive as the movie 'Heart and Me' (Inside Out), but it is cleverly built."

He added that "the sequence of events at the beginning of the film was creative, when Sam encounters a torrent of sinister random events, and it was presented in a fun comic, and showed her skill, resourcefulness and flexibility."

Critic and writer Ross Bonime said, "The film is uninspiring, and despite the number of ideas packed into this story, it is unimpressive, not very exciting, and no memorable jokes."

The film is produced by John Lasseter, president of production company Skydance Animation, and is shown on Apple+.
