Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to make a one-time payment to parents of schoolchildren aged six to 18 in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as in the Zaporozhye, Kharkiv and Kherson regions.

This was reported by the press service of the Kremlin.

As stated in the document, the Russian Cabinet of Ministers, in cooperation with the executive authorities of the DPR and LPR, the military-civil administrations of the Zaporozhye, Kharkiv and Kherson regions, to ensure the implementation of a lump sum payment in the amount of 10 thousand rubles to one of the parents (legal representatives) of children aged from six to 18 years old (provided that the child reaches the age of six years no later than September 1, 2022) living in these territories, if such children began their education in general educational organizations no later than September 15.

Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin was appointed responsible for the implementation of the order.

Funds must be credited by October 1st.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin said that more than 1,200 schools would be prepared to receive students in the liberated territories by the Day of Knowledge.

Nearly 5 million textbooks will be delivered to general education institutions by the new academic year, and universities will receive more than 163,000 textbooks.

In turn, Russian Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov indicated that schools in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics would be repaired and provided with free textbooks.

In connection with the transition to Russian educational standards, about 15,000 teachers will be retrained.

Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, in an interview with RT, recalled that in the liberated territories of Ukraine, citizens may not be able to provide schoolchildren with the necessary things before the start of the school year.

“I think that objectively such a decision of the president is a helping hand extended to needy people who have not seen care from the state for a long time.

Today, they should rightfully feel the care of Russia, ”the deputy explained.

In turn, Ekaterina Stenyakina, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, said that she had just returned from the LPR and saw how enthusiastically preparations for the new academic year were going in the republic.

“Of course, any help in preparing children for school is very important now for parents of schoolchildren.

Many, unfortunately, do not have the necessary things, because the houses were destroyed due to shelling.

Someone was forced to move, left most of the things, marauders came, nothing was left.

Many are in difficult financial situations.

Yes, and the benefits that are now paid in the DNR, LNR are tiny, it is very difficult, almost impossible to prepare children for school in a quality manner.

Such a measure of support is very important for people, ”explained the interlocutor of RT.

On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in support of the Donbass republics.

As a result of successful actions, the allied forces took control of the territory of the LPR and the Kherson region.

Also, the liberation from the Ukrainian nationalists of the DPR, Zaporozhye and Kharkiv regions continues.

In autumn, these regions are expected to hold referendums on joining the Russian Federation.

At the end of May, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

In July, the President of the Russian Federation expanded the legislative norm to include persons permanently residing throughout Ukraine, as well as in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

Initially, the simplified procedure for processing documents has been in effect for residents of the DPR and LPR since April 2019.

According to open data as of June 2022, more than 800,000 residents of the Republics of Donbass have taken advantage of the simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship during this time.
