It is in this context that a 27-year-old man was tried this Thursday by the criminal court of Lons-le-Saunier (Jura) for having started a major fire on August 10.
More than 230 hectares of forest and brush had gone up in smoke in the wooded areas of Cornod and Vosbles-Valfin, in the south of the department.
No one was injured but several residents had to be evacuated.

An incoherent first story
According to the prosecution of Lons-le-Saunier, quoted by

, the defendant is a former volunteer firefighter (non-professional).
He was one of the first people to report the fire to the fire department.
Unmasked by the investigators given his incoherent account, this father had finally admitted his involvement, explaining that he wanted to do an experiment with twigs and a lighter.
This Thursday's hearing will be an immediate appearance.
About sixty firefighters intervened for two consecutive days to stem the fire in Cornod and Vosbles.
