A man was sentenced Monday, August 22, for slapping a 15-year-old girl and for insulting the police in Vichy (Allier).

At the time of the events, which occurred five days earlier, this 45-year-old father was in a state of alcoholism and recidivism, reports

The forties had been arrested by the police shortly after attacking the young girl who had just left a cinema with a friend.

He insulted an officer before being taken into custody.

The man was already under a suspended sentence of eight months for similar facts.

16 months in prison

At the hearing, the defendant claimed to have no recollection of the facts.

Followed for years by several psychiatrists, the man also asked to be sent to prison "to lay the foundations on things to do, put everything back together".

The defendant was eventually sentenced to eight months in prison.

His previous reprieve having been revoked, his total sentence amounted to 16 months incarceration.

He was also banned from appearing in the department for five years.
