It is noted that 54 states signed the statement.

The statement was read out by Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsya.

“We remain committed to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders,” Kyslytsya said.

On August 24, it became known that Zelensky was taking part in a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine via video link.

Russia opposed Zelensky's participation in this format, as it contradicts the requirements of the Security Council protocol.

The issue was put to a procedural vote.

13 members of the UN Security Council spoke in favor of participation, Russia opposed, China abstained.
