The department pointed to 10 advantages provided by the Civil Marriage Law to foreigners wishing to enter into civil marriage, as it provides a modern concept of civil family laws for foreigners, including requests and disputes related to civil marriage and its effects, such as civil divorce, joint custody, financial rights resulting from divorce, wills and civil inheritance, and proof of parentage and adoption. , and other matters related to the personal status of foreigners.
The advantages also included the absence of a requirement for the presence of a guardian for the wife and the absence of witnesses, and the availability of a civil marriage contract for tourists and residents outside the emirate or outside the state.
In the event of a divorce request, the case is submitted directly to the court to issue a ruling from the first session, in addition to providing the principle of divorce without harm, and filling out the divorce application form, without the need for a lawyer, and preserving the rights arising from the divorce.
The court has the power to compel any of the spouses to pay financial compensation to the other, to rule joint custody of the children, to determine cases of dismissal of either the father or the mother, and to forfeit his right to joint custody.
The judgment issued by the court shall be final and enforceable, in addition to providing court procedures in both Arabic and English.

Statistics from the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department showed a 40% increase in the registration of civil divorce cases without harm to foreigners and non-Muslims residing in the emirate during the past three months, which reflects the size of the benefit and the difference made by the law, as the civil divorce judgment is issued from the first session within only 30 days of the case, without the need to submit the file to the family guidance.

The court issues its ruling on the distribution of the inheritance in Arabic and English within 30 days from the date of filing the case, in order to facilitate the heirs and achieve economic stability with regard to assets and property.
