The alarm about the fire came in at 04.30 on Monday morning.

Emergency services are on site and hope to save the lower floor of the building, but the upper floor and attic are completely destroyed.

- We hope to be able to protect the lower floor, but there will be water damage, says Viktor Brandt, the internal commander of the rescue service.

There are no reports of personal injuries.

During the morning, the caller is said to have knocked on the windows and managed to wake up the person living in the house, and no one else should have been in there.

Fiber supply threatened

At the back of the building, which belongs to the village association and houses a number of different businesses, sits a fiber hub that provides the village of Norråker with a fiber connection.

The emergency services are now focusing on protecting it.

- We see it as socially important to protect, says Viktor Brandt.

- Based on the latest report, it sounded promising.

But it is still unsafe, a bit of a tricky situation, he continues and points out that the hub is vulnerable to both fire and water.

The village without internet

According to reports during the morning, the village's roughly 100 residents are currently without internet, as a result of the fire.
