Yesterday, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, conducted an inspection visit to the areas affected by rain and floods in the White Nile and Gezira states.

Al-Burhan's inspection visit coincided with the Sudanese authorities' announcement that the victims of rain and torrential rain had risen to 79 people, in addition to the injury of dozens.

The Sudanese Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Adam Bakhit, confirmed that the country may be declared a natural disaster area in the coming hours due to the torrential rains.

"The state of alert continues, and we expect more rain," he said in statements.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese authorities announced that the victims of rain and torrential rain had risen to about 79 people, in addition to wounding dozens, while the army began an air rescue operation for those affected in the city of Al-Manaqil in Al-Jazirah state, central Sudan.

Floods and torrential rains have swept a number of states since the beginning of this month, causing heavy losses in lives and property.

And the Sudan Tribune website quoted Civil Defense Council spokesman, Brigadier Abdul-Jalil Abdul Rahim, as saying that the latest statistic of the flood victims was issued on Friday, and indicated that 79 people were killed and dozens injured, in addition to the complete collapse of more than 15,000 homes, and the partial collapse of about 22,000 homes in affected areas.
