The Ministry of Education organized an inaugural meeting for the Summer Training Program on the Model United Nations, to celebrate International Youth Day, which falls on August 12 of each year, in the presence of representatives of the care sector, capacity building and management of advanced future skills. The Ministry worked on qualifying students in the "Readiness for Diplomacy Path 2022" program, which it implemented in cooperation with a group of leading universities in the country, in addition to involving them in the Virtual National Conference to Simulate the Model United Nations for the year 2021, to participate in this training program, and make them play an active role in Diplomacy.

The training program aims to raise the capabilities of 100 public and private school students from different emirates in the field of leadership, diplomacy and global competence, in addition to the participation of 20 male and female teachers from the educational field. state in the United Nations.

It also includes developing students’ global competence, building their understanding of international peace and security, and the challenges of climate change, and raising their awareness of the international event hosted by the country next year “the Twenty-eighth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change” (COP 28), and the sustainable development goals. One of the most prominent global leadership activities for students.

The Ministry organized five training workshops during the period from 16 to 20 August, with two training workshops on simulating the Model United Nations, targeting 50 students with first experience in the diplomacy track, in addition to two advanced training workshops for 50 student leaders in the Model United Nations, in addition to a workshop Advanced training for male and female teachers supervising the Model United Nations Program and Clubs.

The training programs included students from grades nine to 12, who participated in the previous Virtual National Conference for the Model United Nations, beneficiaries of the "Diplomacy Track" readiness program, in addition to teachers interested in the Model United Nations program.

The training of students included learning diplomatic skills, leadership skills, diplomacy, the art of negotiation and presentation of proposals, as well as teacher programs to facilitate the Model United Nations during the upcoming national conference or related activities.

The students went through an educational simulation experience of the Model United Nations and its various committees, to learn the art of diplomacy, international relations and current global issues, and to understand the international role. It also supports the priorities of the UAE and the Ministry of Education, through the skills and knowledge of the 21st century, preparing student leaders, awareness of sustainability, and taking measures To their advantage, support the learning strategy.

These programs also enhance enabling students to understand the model of the United Nations as an educational opportunity to maintain tolerance, openness to the world, develop personal skills, and enable them to multiply this activity, and to play a leadership role during the upcoming national conference on simulating the model of the United Nations and within educational institutions, and international events in the state.

The Ministry’s interest in such training programs comes because the UAE is proactive in supporting priorities, goals and solidarity action by building strategic partnerships with effective international organizations for the sustainability and quality of education, adopting international best practices to build specialized and future skills, laying the foundations for innovation and knowledge, and spreading the spirit of leadership and leadership.
