A new parking lot next to the exercise tracks and Vilstabacken will be built and there will also be a new parking lot at the fishing pier on Vilsta holme.
In addition to that, the gravel parking lots in the area must also be upgraded and made larger in order to accommodate more visitors.
The work is expected to start in September.
Parks on lawns
Jan Heldring, construction manager at Eskilstuna municipality, says that in the winter the parking lots in the area are often full and that people often park on the grass next to the parking lots, among other things.
He believes that this is a necessary upgrade.
- This whole thing is a refurbishing of Vilsta outdoor area and this is a stage.
Among other things, there is a lack of parking spaces and this happens when there are not enough marked spaces, he says.
Closed parking spaces
Existing parking spaces will be closed periodically and accessibility for car traffic will be affected while the work is in progress.
According to Jan Heldring, the work is expected to be completed before the turn of the year.
