SVT Nyheter has taken note of the deviation.

The medical association, the chief physician at the hospital and the emergency manager believe that the situation that arose is serious.

Every minute counts

Malin Ankardal, trade union representative, has herself worked as a doctor in the emergency room.

Patients come here with, for example, acute blood poisoning, cardiac arrest or who are injured after car accidents.

In order for good care to be provided, where time is important, there must be at least an entire care team on site with a doctor, nurse and assistant nurse.

- When I heard that this had happened, I was shocked and actually didn't believe it was real.

I don't want to go into the individual case other than that there was a patient who came by ambulance and had severe shortness of breath.

I know that the doctor was alone with the patient for a good while without being able to give any active drug treatment, says Malin Ankardal.

The hospital will now investigate the incident.

Save colleagues

Malin Ankardal says that colleagues are afraid of ending up in such a situation and feel that the hospital has now crossed a line.

- For a long time we have cared for patients in corridors and have long waiting times, it is reprehensible.

But not as dangerous as, in the worst case, you can come in with a cardiac arrest and be left without treatment.

This is a symptom that the hospital is not doing well.

The emergency room cannot solve this situation, the problem is that we do not have enough care places.

Should one pull such hard gears on an event?

- I have never heard of any similar event, for me it is not surprising that it is happening right now.

Many alarms at the same time

Marcus Larsson, emergency manager, went out and warned about the extremely low staffing during the summer.

- Midsummer is our busiest period of the whole year, I had staffed up for that.

But we received a lot of alarms that also came at the same time.

I have checked this situation and it was not many minutes the doctor was standing alone and there was no negative outcome for the patient.
