For just over three years, Uppsala University together with Campus Gotland and departments at Umeå University, among others, have developed a computer game for children undergoing radiation treatment.

In the game, the children get to know the equipment used and learn tricks to make the treatment as painless as possible.

- In previous research, several children expressed that a game would have been preferred, says Catarina Cederved, PhD student at Uppsala University and coordinator of the project.

When the game is now fully developed, children with cancer can test it and at the same time participate in a survey where they answer whether it helps them relax during treatment.

The hope is that the game will be able to be used on a national level in about two years.
