The opponent and deputy, charged among other things with contempt of the head of state, did not leave his cell despite the judgment of the Court of Cassation ordering his house arrest before the start of his trial.

His supporters are irritated and denounce the bad faith of the general prosecutor's office supposed to execute this judicial decision.

Officials of the central prison of Makala where the former leader of the presidential party has been detained since August 12, confirm that they have received notification of

the judgment rendered

in favor of Jean-Marc Kabund, eight days ago.

But it is now up to the public prosecutor's office to pick up the deputy, designate the place of his summons and requisition the police officers on duty.

From a good source, the public prosecutor's office could assign the former lieutenant of the regime to a residence other than his villa in Kingabwa, located in the heart of a working-class district.

His lawyers protest.

The arbitrary detention of President Jean-Marc Kabund has become more than an emblematic case of the denial of justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Faced with the gesticulations of the judiciary, we are therefore launching an urgent appeal to the general prosecutor's office at the Court of Cassation to free themselves from any dictatorial drift.

We discourage any attempt to put the Honorable Jean-Marc Kabund in an unsecured place because his physical integrity is at stake.

The residence of Jean-Marc Kabund is well known

”, declared Maître Emmanuelli Kahaya, his chief of staff.

In response, Jean-Marc Kabund's new party, the Alliance for Change, announced that it wanted to seize international bodies.

As for the procedure in the DRC, the public prosecutor's office and the defense are waiting for the Court to give them a date for the start of the trial.

A trial that the relatives of the accused want to be public and publicized.
