At least 16 people died this Saturday, and another 21 were injured, when several vehicles - including

a passenger bus, an ambulance and a fire truck

- collided on a highway in southeastern Turkey, the Turkish provincial government reported. from Gaziantep.

Among the dead are three firefighters, four health workers and two journalists, Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül said, quoted by the Turkish daily Hürriyet.

The accident occurred on the Gaziantep-Nizip highway.

According to local media, the journalists, who were working for the state agency IHA, were traveling in a van to report on a previous accident when, for reasons still unknown, their vehicle was hit by a bus, which overturned and collided with an ambulance.

The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

Several rescue and emergency teams have gone to the scene of the rescue, while the authorities have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the accident.
