An episode of "Kohlanness", a program broadcast on YouTube and which imitates the famous television program "Koh-Lanta", was filmed at Fresnes prison a fortnight ago.

The video, published on Friday and which shows inmates and guards compete in various tests, has aroused several strong reactions.

It's a growing controversy.

It all started with a tweet from deputy LR Éric Ciotti this Saturday following the publication of a video on Friday.

The elected representative of the Alpes-Maritimes is moved by the images of a game between prisoners and police officers inside the Fresnes prison itself, inspired by the famous reality TV show Koh-Lanta.

This video caused a real outcry.

Our prisons are not summer camps where inmates and guards weave bonds of friendship.

Where is the respect for the victims and their families who watch these offenders having fun while serving their sentences?

Where is the fear of punishment?

We see inmates, one of the prison staff members and young people from the suburbs of Fresnes compete in teams around various events ranging from a karting race to a diving competition in an inflatable swimming pool and archery. the rope.

Challenges organized in the prison yard and filmed by a film crew.

Éric Dupond-Moretti orders the opening of an investigation

It is actually a show called "Kohlanness" and produced by YouTuber Djibril Dramé and which aims to raise funds for several neighborhood associations.

The shooting took place a fortnight ago, but the video was published Friday evening on YouTube.

And faced with the outcry on social networks, the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti ordered the opening of an investigation.

The reaction of the Keeper of the Seals, who denounces shocking images, suggests that his ministry was not aware of the organization of this filming.

Only here, such an event cannot take place without the agreement of the Ministry of Justice, according to Philippe Kuhn, regional secretary of the union of prison guards of Paris.

"It's not understandable"

According to him, "all the authorizations have been made".

"So I don't understand why (Éric Dupond-Moretti) is offended when he was most certainly aware. Indeed, it's certainly a bad buzz for him. In the middle of summer when we make water restrictions, we put a swimming pool in the middle of the detention, we fill it with what is used in case of fire. It is not understandable", he points out.

The unions of prison guards denounced the event as soon as the filming took place in the prison of Fresnes.

For its part, the Ministry of Justice did not respond to our requests.
